So on Microsoft word i ffree a new list for taking notes with the first level starting at 0″ so that i can get as many words i can on the page this isn’t for printing. The second level starts nkt 0. Various users may have different Microsoft Word versions. I have found that users who are not highly skilled in Microsoft Word delete the bullets or numbers and continue typing as though it is a normal paragraph.

This removes the bullets or numbers throughout the whole document. Users sometimes include pictures in a heading style that they delete, which ends up in the contents and also removes the numbering from the document. I fix the style so that the picture is not in a heading and it removes it from the contents. I need to reinsert the heading numbering styles by referring back to the original template which can be time consuming.

This occurs even in a protected document. Please confirm whether you believe the ‘quick repair’ option you have recommended may repair this issue. Does the losing heading numbers and bullet points issue only happens to one specific document?

Generally, a “Quick Repair” is a method to repair Office applications instead of specific document. It only detects and then replaces corrupted files. I notice that the documents are saved in SharePoint for view and edit. Please make a copy of this document for a backup, then check the Version History list of this file in SharePoint, try to restore item version. If you share a template file on a path and assign everyone Editor permission to change it, all users are opening one same file and do changes, then the saved changes will change the original template file.

If you just deploy workgroup templates for all Office users to load in Word by clicking New and clicking a template, then each users will create their own Word file based on this template, the changes will not affect the template itself.

Users are forced to save a new Word document based on this template. Sorry for my delay. I am not sure if there is any setting in SharePoint side that can meet your requirement.

It tends to occurs in styles with linkages to other styles even in protected files. When I remove the linkages I lose less bullets. This is not as easy with numbering as it requires linkage to levels.

Unless I misunderstand your response above, you appear to be recommending that I create a template that opens as a new document each time a user opens it. However, users would then be working on different files which need to be combined at the end. Please confirm whether I have interpreted your suggestion correctly.
