Here is why based on my past experiences :. The Windows IOT installations are meant for embedded systems with constrained resources. This is also true for the old Windows Mobile installations, and before that, Windows CE installations. These type of installations are quite a bit different than the “non-IOT” installations ie. If someone is not following an exact procedure documented on-line corresponding to the exact hardware they are using when installing to an IOT platform, the result may be a “bricked” non-functional system because of a mismatch in device drivers.
So my recommendation is that if you have a particular platform that you are trying to install a Windows IOT OS on to, to contact the manufacturer of the platform to see if they have the installer for you.
